Landlord Louis and his mighty, merry team are ready and waiting to welcome you to the Pheasant Inn.

Sitting on the edge of Shefford Woodlands and flaunting an Instagram-worthy view over Berkshire’s fabulous Valley of the Racehorse, our unabashedly historic country inn has been dishing out hospitality for a whopping 450 years.

Just moments away from the M4, our 14 bedrooms are your haven from the weary road. Stick around and explore local gems like Highclere Castle, Avebury Stone Circles, and the North Wessex Downs—because who doesn’t love a designated wonderland for walkers?

Horse racing is at the heart of what we’re about, and has been for a millennia or two (give or take). We’re the perfect place to stay after a day visiting the famous Newbury Racecourse.

Whether you’re up for a hearty feast, light lunch or just keen to plop onto a vintage leather bar stool in our snug with a pint, rest assured you’ll be greeted with a warm welcome.
